Xanterra Travel Collection Train HVAC Tech I in WILLIAMS, Arizona

Overview This is a full time position at the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, Arizona. HVAC I performs the correct procedures for testing, troubleshooting and making repairs to HVAC/R systems and related electrical circuits. Responsibilities Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values. Communicates with others both orally and in writing. Reads and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Exercises independent judgment and decision-making capability in the absence of direct supervision and performs duties of HVAC Tech II. Performs the correct procedures to HVAC/R testing and troubleshooting. Required to redesign HVAC/R systems when necessary. Required to have extensive knowledge of alternative freon retrofitting procedures. Maintain electronic and pneumatic testing equipment. Read and draw blueprints, piping and wiring diagrams. Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC/R equipment and high voltage circuits. The employee may be required to provide guidance, training, and assistance to less experienced techs. Evaluates and recommends changes for job description as the job changes. Available to work scheduled shifts, and be available on call during the evenings, weekends and holidays as call-outs occur. Cleans equipment and work area using proper materials, and follows environmental policy and procedures in regard to proper disposal of hazardous waste materials. May act as lead employee when needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Certificate or degree in HVAC/R systems or knowledge of HVAC/R concepts acquired through 5 years of related experience. EPA universal certification is required. Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Xanterra/GCR Vehicle/Equipment Policy. Preferred Qualifications: Previous railroad experience as an HVAC Tech. Basic Competencies: Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications, follow detailed directions). Common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions) Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills) Basic computer literacy and knowledge of common programs such as MS Office. Wear protective equipment as required by the job duties. Work in confined spaces.
