Senior Tooling Engineer

job summary:

Rapidly growing privately held global manufacturing company located in the Tucson, AZ area is currently in search for a Sr Tooling Engineer to join their state of the art manufacturing campus. The ideal candidate will have experience leading the repair and refurbishment of highly complex tooling for injection molding operations. Sr Tooling Engineer should also have experience working with mold makers and other vendors to repair and refurbish injection molding tooling.

responsibilities:

• Responsible to lead the repair and refurbishment of high complexity tooling for injection molding operations

• Lead the interaction with mold makers and other vendors to repair and refurbish injection molding tooling

• Identify, justify and implement quality improvement projects to improve the performance and consistency of injection molded components

• Responsible for coordination of maintenance and repair of injection mold tooling for several high volume product lines

• Collaborate with Design Engineers, Process Engineers, and Quality Engineers to develop and improve tool solutions for robust injection molded components

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Service oriented, I'll-figure-it-out, action-oriented attitude

• 10+ years of demonstrated experience in achieving results in areas of responsibility described above, especially repairing and refurbishing high complexity injection molding tooling

• Experience as a mold maker, technical supervisor, or lead building and refurbishing high complexity injection molding and tooling

• Experience collaborating with supply management, product design, and manufacturing groups on the activities required to lead the refurbishment of molds

• Knowledgeable of Injection Molding tool design solutions

• Experience qualifying molds for injection molded components

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to perform cost justifications

• Well organized, enthusiastic, high energy, strong work ethic

• BS Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficient in the use of CAD (SolidWorks ideal)
