Raytheon Technologies Sr Quality Assurance Engineer in Tucson, Arizona

This is a multi-level position that can be a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer II (G09) or Principle Quality Engineer (G10) based on the candidates’ qualification as they relate to the skills, experience, and education required for this position.

Job Description:

Operations Quality has an opening for a Factory Quality Engineer who will interface with the factory teams supporting production, first article inspections, creating/maintaining work/inspection instructions, and preparation for audits. The position is based in Tucson, AZ and requires onsite presence. The quality engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies

  • Regularly generate and publish Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics

  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB)

  • Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary

  • Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management

  • Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and meet production needs

  • Regularly interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)

  • Daily status meetings with the factory support, factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders to manage issue

  • Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in related Quality, Operations, Engineering or related discipline

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Interim Clearance Required: This position requires an interim secret security clearance before start.

  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System

  • Experience in supporting design and/or manufacturing process

  • Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)

  • Demonstrate ability to understand engineering drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control

  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in negotiating, having difficult conversations, and ability to work well with factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders

  • Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques

  • Experience in Data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in related Quality, Operations, Engineering or related discipline

  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in auditing process and

product/process improvements in the factory or at suppliers

  • Experience in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis

  • Experience with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

  • Six Sigma or ASQ Certification

  • Level 5 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal Candidates)

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or Business

  • Existing DoD Secret Clearance

  • High computer proficiency, including skills working with Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word Visio)

Required Education (including Major):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics

  • Master’s Degree in a similar discipline preferred

    Interim Clearance Required:

This position requires an interim secret security clearance before start. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
