Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.
As a Reliability Engineer you’ll perform engineering activities necessary to design and verify reliable operations for our systems throughout their lifecycles. The Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Testability (RAMT)Program assists our system and test designers in identifying and architecting a test program that collects data required to verify reliable operation and support preventive maintenance that complies with customer availability and reliability requirements. As a Reliability Engineer you are responsible for the system reliability and availability metric throughout the product lifecycle and you’ll work with top contributors to support management decisions.
Program activities include:
Perform Reliability and Availability models as well as growth, allocation and verification analyses
Perform accelerated life, reliability growth and stress screen testing (Environmental exposure)
Perform design analyses including derating, test coverage, Sneak Circuit Analysis (SCA) and Bent Pin Analysis (BPA)
Develop stockpile reliability program plans including sample size estimates
Manage and track system critical items and parameters list
Perform Probabilistic Risk Assessments (PRA)using test results to assess adjustment to Reliability and Availability metrics for risks or possible age dependent reliability adjustments
Coordinate accelerated life, reliability growth and stress screening test plans
Present RAMT program results at Customer reviews
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
In this role, you’ll work with a variety of stakeholders, including our Customers, various commercial and government test facilities, test integrated product teams as well as Raytheon Missiles & Defense engineering and support organizations. You’ll also collaborate with engineers and scientists to evaluate product RAMT requirements and performance.
Minimal domestic travel is required for offsite testing of energetics and working group meetings with our customers.
An advanced degree can be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Education: BS in a STEM discipline or BA in Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics.
6+ years’ engineering experience
Reliability Engineering or System Engineering experience
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
Experience with model based systems engineering and reliability
Understanding of environmental effects on hardware and application of technical theories and concepts in relation to the operation of aging components and materials
Be a critical systems thinker, capable of understanding how a system operates and using available information to make an informed decision on the effects to the system’s reliability
Knowledge of MIL specs, and standards
Experience with component failure and reliability
Experience with root cause analysis
Experience with mechanical components, materials selection and characterization, testing, and hardware integration.
Experience with probability, statistics and regression analysis
Experience with reliability engineering techniques and processes, such as:
Reliability Modeling, Allocations, and Predictions, Parts Stress and Derating Analysis, Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS), Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Test Coverage Analysis, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) test planning, Integrated Reliability Growth planning, Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA), Failure Diagnosis and Data/Trend assessments
Project management experience
Reliability experience in electrical, electronic, and/or electromechanical product design and development
Ability to perform analysis using Systems Engineering models
Excellent presentation skills with ability and confidence to present in front of large customer audiences.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work with and take directions from IPT and Functional Management.
Strong Technical Writing skills
Ability to take an analytical approach and utilize technical knowledge to solve challenges
Ability to effectively multi-task
