This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Land Survey - Jr. Crew Chief/Surveyor As one of the top-ranked consulting engineering firms in the nation, providing surveying, engineering, construction management and environmental services, we have an opportunity for a Jr. Crew Chief/Surveyor to join our Survey Team in our (Enter Location) office.Your Role:As a Jr. Crew Chief, you will utilize your expertise to assist the Crew Chief with daily field operations and act as Crew Chief when required. Under the guidance of the Crew Chief and Project Surveyor, you will have the opportunity to participate in different types of field work, including but not limited to: boundary identification, right-of-way and design surveys, construction staking, ALTA surveys, and topographic mapping. Intermittently, you will assume basic Crew Chief duties to direct construction layout, topographic collection, boundary collection and aerial ground control layout and collection. Responsibilities:Handling standard surveying equipment including Robotic Total Stations, Total Stations, and equipment used in Static GPS measurements and RTK GPS measurements.Using optical and digital levelsAdministering proper geometric, trigonometric, and algebraic mathematical principals in the preparation of field notes and calculationsInterpreting point sheets, cut sheets, Paving Plans, Grading Plans, Water Plans, and Sewer PlansRecognizing proper procedures for stake/nail/monument driving and for marking and placing guard or grade stakes while maintaining required accuracies for different job typesFollowing and employing topographic survey procedures with all survey instrumentsUnderstanding and applying boundary surveying procedures with all survey instrumentsMaintaining hand tools, survey equipment, and survey vehiclesUtilizing Psomas intranet and computer software programs to create, store, and retrieve survey information, calculations, and reportsCommunicating effectively in person, using a phone/2-way radio, and in writingOrganizing efficiently and managing information and documentsQualifications:High school diploma or GED Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience as an Instrument Person/Field Technician.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsWork cooperatively as part of a team while following provided directions and instructionsValid Driver's License and safe driving recordAbility to work outdoors for up to 12 hours a dayConduct business in a professional mannerPreferred:Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Mapping, Geomatics, or a related field of studyAutoCAD experienceDemonstrated knowledge of required skills, and willingness to learn new skillsWhy PsomasOur culture is built on the foundation of social sustainability practices.
