Northern Arizona Healthcare Senior HIM Processor in Sedona, Arizona

The Senior HIM Processor releases confidential information according to HIPAA and NAH Policies and Procedures to patients, hospitals and physicians' offices. He/she collects, assembles and scans pertinent patient information into EMR system. Prepares appropriate documents needed for new patient consults and follow up appointments. Covers for support staff as needed including but not limited to answering and triaging incoming calls, computer skills, patient registration and scheduling. Must have strong professional communication skills and commitment to excellent patient/family care.

Records Management

  • Medical records request and release.

  • Preparation for new patients and follow up appointments.

  • Monthly physician's calendar.

  • Storage and purging of past patient paper charts.

  • Editing and distribution of Physician's dictation.

Administrative

  • Answers, evaluates and prioritizes incoming administrative line telephone calls, communicates effectively with caller obtaining complete and accurate information to determine the need(s) of the caller.

  • Patient registration and scheduling.

  • Basic understanding of CPT and ICD 10 codes.

Event Participation and Coordination

  • Participates in Cancer Center sponsored community health screenings and events.

Compliance/Safety

  • Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

  • Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

  • If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

  • Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

Education

High School graduate or GED- Required

Certification & Licensures

Successful completion of Medical Terminology course within six months of employment- Required

Experience

Hospital, clinical, physician's office and/or equivalent experience- Preferred

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
