Honeywell Sr Advanced Mech Design Engr in Phoenix, Arizona

This position reports to the manager of the Advance Tech Design, Composites and Product Definition group within the Engines and Power Systems organization. The successful candidate will engage in Turbofan, turboshaft, and other advanced technology composite concept design layouts and preliminary and detailed design modeling. Design engineers will engage with the component analysis teams to successfully design the composite parts for a gas turbine engine.

The candidate will support and report out to key stakeholders within the Engines and Power Systems Engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will act as the Composite COE Tech Lead for a global team including HGR and HTS resources.

  • Imagine, design and develop composite parts and components as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team.

  • You will collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

  • You will participate in all phases of product development and will be a coach and mentor to less experienced engineers.

  • Refine your engineering talents in a team-based culture by working with innovative products and technologies.

  • Leading design teams that develop modern solutions to complex problems.

  • Design engineering using CAD based modeling

  • Engineering analysis and weight optimization

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering

  • 6+ years of mechanical design engineering experience in composites

  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design with NX or CAD design tool including modeling and drafting of composites


  • Experience in engine internals and externals design, including turbomachinery, gear trains, and mechanical systems

  • Proven application of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience in Conceptual Design, Preliminary Design and Detailed Design phases.

  • Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience.

  • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.

  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating and overseeing successful projects
