  • Plant Operations * FIELD03252 Full-Time Phoenix, AZ, USA ### Description GENERAL SUMMARY: The Field Services Technician (FST) is a working leader responsible for all front line duties of maintaining and repairing solar PV systems typically in an assigned geographic location. In this role, your assigned area will be within approx. 100 miles of Phoenix, AZ. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, site maintenance and repair, 3rd party technical/vendor oversight, report generation, commissioning, performance analysis, inventory management, spares procurement, and communication internally as well as externally. This position is considered fully qualified to test, analyze, perform preventative maintenance and repair problems in photovoltaic inverter systems, monitoring (DAS) Systems, as well as other components of PV power plants and battery energy storage systems. NOTE: Candidates with less experience will be considered for hire in an Associate developmental role with the goal of becoming a Field Service Technician fully qualified to work independently as a technical leader in the field. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Test, analyze, and repair problems in Inverters and monitoring (DAS) Systems, as well as other components of commercial and utility scale solar PV and battery energy storage facilities * Perform moderately complex but repetitive testing, and troubleshooting * Use, maintain, and secure test devices and tools used to adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment; including clamp-on meters, PQA, IV Curve tracer * Respond to tickets from dispatch * Routine site maintenance * Oversight of 3rd party technicians * Preventative Maintenance, including detailed notes, descriptions of issues and photos * Receive and replace components, then package equipment and ship to complete warranty claims * Troubleshoot issues as they arise; evaluate alternatives and proposes solutions * Manage customer interactions representing Bay4 as a professional technical leader * Ensure that service commitments are met within expected response time * Communicate any special problems to the Technical Portfolio Manager immediately * Manage vehicle inventory and restock as necessary * Keep service vehicle clean and well organized * Complete required paperwork (time sheets, service orders, forms, inventory, expense reports, and equipment related items) * Adhere to departmental procedures and safety requirements as appropriate (e.g. OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc.) * NAES SAFE* Safety is a core value of NAES and Bay 4. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS This work can be physically demanding while working frequently in an outdoor environment in a variety of weather and working conditions. Must be able to work in heat and cold, i.e. full sun where temperatures can be triple digits, or no sun where temperatures can be below freezing. In addition to extreme weather conditions, the Technician may be subjected to physical circumstances involving extensive climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and working in confined spaces. Position requires both weekday and weekend work, sometimes involving a rotational schedule or “on-call” status. All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: NOTE: Candidates with less experience will be considered for hire in an Associate developmental role with the goal of becoming a Field Service Technician fully qualified to work independently as a technical leader in the field. * 5+ years electrical experience desired, preferably as a licensed electrician. (CA state electricians license is NOT required) * Demonstrated detailed knowledge or a willingness to learn solar industry best practices, NEC requirements, NFPA70E, and diagnosis/repair of common solar failures * Demonstrated experience performing complex but repetitive testing, creating a safe work environment, performing troubleshooting, and manage a team of peers or contractors * Working familiarity with system switching * Certification to operate a scissor lift and forklift or the ability to become certified * Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and clean driving record; ideally, DOT driving license or ability to obtain * NABCEP certification or other component-specific solar certifications helpful * Demonstrated critical thinking skills in real time, high stress situations * Ability to develop detailed documentation and submit detailed reports on a daily basis * Ability to work well with subcontracted maintenance personnel in resolution of issues identified in the field * Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor more junior field personnel * Interpersonal skills to manage customer relations successfully * Ability to work in a safe and alert manner is an essential function of the job It is the practice of NAES and its subsidiaries to seek employees of the highest quality and to select the individuals on the basis of merit and competence, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, military status or affiliation protected under USERRA, or any other basis of discrimination prohibited by applicable local, state and federal law. ### Travel Required Yes.
