Charles Schwab Senior Systems Security Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona
Schwab Cybersecurity Services’ (“SCS”) Data Loss Prevention, (DLP), Engineering team is responsible for the Firm’s data loss/leakage prevention service. We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Security Engineer to join an exceptional team of engineers and analysts whose mission is to protect Schwab’s most valuable assets: our client information and their trust. For this role, we require a diligent and credible senior systems engineer who is relied upon by business and technology partners to deliver data security initiatives, metrics, reporting, automation and optimizing operations.
What you are good at
Ensuring integrity of information across multiple platforms such as databases and unstructured data and cloud-based infrastructure.
Development and scripting experience in Cloud Service Provider IaaS environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Formulate and automate quality monitoring of structured data to ensure proper response rules based on corporate security and compliance policies.
Provide risk-mitigation recommendations to Schwab Cyber Security; create (or review and validate) requirements to maintain or enhance technical and operational controls that pertain to databases to ensure the protection of sensitive data.
Continually evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of data protection systems as needed in order to tune security configurations to reduce false positive events while improving detection of high quality, quantifiable and actionable risk events.
In the scope of the tool set be able to gather requirements, design, test, implement, operate, solve and perform root cause analysis of problems.
Monitor system performance and health; perform remediation as needed.
Use, follow and support Agile/Kanban practices. Deliver new and improved data protection capabilities, analytics, visualizations, reporting, and impactful, valuable, risk intelligence in short, sprint-like outcomes.
Collaborate closely with enterprise and security architecture, governance, risk, onboarding, and production support teams while building and maintaining durable data security solutions.
Coach, mentor and develop less experienced colleagues.
What you have
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Information Security, or Computer Science is required
8 years of enterprise-level system administration experience, supporting technologies and databases that are subject to high levels of audit and regulatory oversight, is required. Strengths in the following technical areas: Database monitoring, Operating system administration, scripting and development (e.g., Windows and Linux shell, VB, Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby).
Strong functional familiarity with two or more of the following: CASB, database administration (e.g., MS-SQL, Oracle); Google Cloud, AWS, endpoint system and security application administration. DNS and TCP/IP Internet and networking technologies within large distributed environments.
Ability to configure, design and implement data protection, encryption in transit, encryption at rest, cloud KMS, Identity Aware Proxy, cloud DLP, cloud security compliance and handle security operations within a cloud solution environment.
Ability to prioritize and analyze large amounts of data, and report findings.
Security certifications such as CISSP or SANS is preferred.
