What You Will Do

Successful highway projects connect people, communities, and businesses by balancing transportation needs with client requirements, user benefits, and community concerns. With the final design of more than 1,000 miles of highway to our credit, Gannett Fleming’s clients rely on our ability to plan and design highways that serve communities and meet regulatory requirements.

Our Roadways Corporate Business Group is currently looking for a Senior Project Manager in our Phoenix, AZ office. Join our team!

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for strategic and technical leadership of the Roadways Corporate Business Group (CBG) for Arizona and will support CBG leadership in the West. You will serves as a senior technical advisor and be actively engaged at the Arizona state level in professional societies, with some involvement regionally.


  • Develops and executes Roadways CBG strategic plans for Arizona, aligned with region and corporate strategic goals

  • Contributes to the development and execution of Roadways CBG business plans, budgets and performance goals

  • Contributes advice and direction to major proposals, risk assessment and mitigation plans, and project execution plans in Arizona and regionally

  • Supervises senior staff and has overall responsibility for operations in Arizona.

  • Responsible for key technical relationships with clients

  • Serves as a Senior Engineer or Strategist for large, complex or strategic projects in Arizona, and support for regional initiatives.

  • May serve as Quality Assurance Manager and or Principal Manager

  • Contributes to corporate strategy, business plans and programs

  • Develops scopes of work and provides input for negotiations on complex and/or large projects where multiple disciplines are involved and work is conducted across multiple offices and/or disciplines

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Arizona required; in other jurisdictions desirable.

  • 20+ years of applicable experience

  • Excellent understanding of Arizona DOT processes and personnel.

  • Strong reputation for delivering studies, design concept reports, and/or final designs for projects for ADOT and other Arizona jurisdictions.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Awareness and understanding of advanced design software and advanced computational software applications

  • Experience with supervision and development of staff

  • Knowledge of multiple disciplines such as roadway, transit, bridge, geotech, drainage, traffic, NEPA, transportation planning, and civil/site

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to lead client presentations

  • National, regional or state recognition for Transportation experience or expertise
