One of the leading healthcare organizations in the United States is looking to hire an experienced Data Engineer that is looking to make a jump into more of an architecture function for a data modernization initiative for. This is a slated to be a contract-to-perm role, with a conversion window within the first 6 months.
As an engineer / architect you will be responsible for designing and developing a large range of data stores and streams to new cloud-based data warehouses and data lakes. If hired you will almost exclusively be focused on architectures taking them from POC to passing off to development teams. To be successful in this position you have experience in both traditional on-prem data warehouse and ETL development, and at least some involvement in a completed architecture project of significant scope and scope for a cloud-based data system (i.e. Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.). With the POC development (and being the last line of support for production teams), the ideal candidate can still dive into the code where necessary and build smaller test systems with these modern tools.

Required Skills & Experience
6+ years of experience in professional software development / architecture with a focus in data engineering, architecture, or data-intensive software development
Intermediate to advanced ‘data architecture’ fundamentals
Strong relational database skills
Exposure to both SQL and NoSQL databases
Previous work in cloud-based data stores like Snowflake (most preferred), Redshift, BigQuery, etc.
ETL / ELT (any tools)
Previous work on GCP (or other public cloud provider), and big bonus for work on a cloud migration
Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Desired Skills & Experience
1+ years in an architecture function
Experience with healthcare data modeling
Experience and/or knowledge of emerging paradigms for data analytics, specifically in machine learning
Some exposure to event-driven / data streams
Knowledge of the legacy systems that you will be moving off of - Netezza, DB2, etc.
MS or higher in Computer Science
Certifications in Snowflake and/or GCP
Competitive Pay: Up to $75/hour, DOE
Contract Duration: 6 months with intention to convert to FTE
