Charles Schwab Principal Security Architect in Phoenix, Arizona

Your Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled Principal Security Architect to be part of the Enterprise Security Architecture team to champion Enterprise security by providing thought leadership and guidance to strengthen the firm’s overall security posture and earn client trust. This role will be an enterprise application security technical specialist with deep knowledge of secure design & development practices as well as expert knowledge of underlying technologies. This position will be a proven hands-on technical leader capable of driving unified security architecture for the enterprise.

What you are good at

  • A self-driven hands-on individual contributor and team-player

  • Actively contributing to the firm’s Security roadmap and the accomplishment of those goals

  • Partnering with technology, product development and business leaders to promote security awareness and integration of security into the product lifecycle

  • Reviewing architecture and design artifacts to meet the firm’s technology and security policy and standards

  • Defining security architecture patterns and building blocks to influence enterprise-level adoption

  • Evolving and growing security architecture baseline with target architectures, patterns and guidelines

  • Working with and influencing business and product owners regarding technology controls and risk mitigation techniques with a security in-depth mentality

  • Performing threat modeling for proactively identifying threats based on architecture and design to derive security requirements

  • Performing impact analysis and developing remediation strategies for key initiatives of interest to security such as migration to cloud, expansion of APIs, etc.

  • Demonstrating a dedication to integrity, process improvement, and earning client trust.

What you have

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience required

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in software security principles, practices, and commercial tools

  • Broad and deep knowledge of an array of technologies to understand complex technical systems and the business processes they support. Synthesize corresponding risks and controls, and recommend adjustments if required

  • Software development experience in one or more of C#, Java, .NET or JavaScript Frameworks

  • Knowledge of cloud, web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Micro Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols

  • Familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and SANS/CWE Top 25 Most Critical Software Vulnerabilities

  • Interest in all aspects of security research and development and advancement of the state of the practice

  • Ability to convey technical details in a manner that is relevant and meaningful to product owners and business leaders

  • Adept at developing relationships and partnering across organization lines; strong relationship building skills a must

  • Enterprise architecture experience is a plus along with CISSP, or other related certifications
