USAA Portfolio Management Office Process Lead in Phoenix, Arizona
Purpose of Job
We are currently seeking a talented Process Lead Engineer with Portfolio Management Office experience at one of our regional office locations, San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Tampa, FL or Colorado Springs, CO.
NOTE: This position is within the newly formed Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO). Owns, maintains and ensures continuous improvement of USAA’s EPMO Policy and the associated standards, processes, procedures and controls. Monitors USAA’s project portfolio risk relative to the policy and regulatory changes, updating documentation as needed in a timely manner and propagating any changes to across USAA. Enables compliant approaches (e.g. scaled agile, waterfall) to better enable USAA to deliver value to its members and employees.
Partners with cross-functional teams, in the application of process engineering principles to design and/or optimize business processes and their overall performance. Responsible for consistently executing the Process Excellence (PX) strategy within a Business Unit or across the Enterprise. Executes process improvement projects that sustainably improve member and employee experiences and business deliverables. Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled. Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

USAA Information Technology: A Realistic Preview
Leads Process Improvement projects that deliver measurable business results.
Builds commitment to business process management and improvement through a focus on effective process development, integrated project/change management and implementation.
Analyzes and identify process improvement opportunities and partner with key stakeholders to scope and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
Serves as a technical leader in the deployment of Process Excellence through the application of process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, LEAN, and basic problem solving).
Trains, coaches, and mentors team members on best practices regarding Process Improvement tools, methodologies, and team leadership.
Works with stakeholders to ensure projects achieve intended results, where risks are proactively identified and mitigated and benefits are validated.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree
8+ years of professional business experience with 4 years of process improvement work experience
Strong, proven experience with leadership, business acumen, problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills in financial services or other highly regulated industry
Expert-level ability to influence and affect change at all levels of the organization
Solid track record in leading cross-functional teams and projects and successfully delivering results
Green Belt certification (one which required successful implementation of a process related project that solved a business problem/improved business performance)
OR demonstrated completion of 3 Lean/Six Sigma projects
Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level

4 years of experience in portfolio management offices
Experience working with enterprise and/or business with Risk, Compliance, and/or Audit partners
4 years in delivery roles leveraging waterfall and/or scaled agile frameworks
Experience working with tooling and reporting/analytics’ teams to enable processes
Experience leading change and/or training across a Fortune 500 company
Experience with owning and or authoring governance documents (e.g. policy, standards, and/or procedures)
