Job Summary:

Responsible for leading all planning activities, namely: MRP runs, Work Orders creation, sequencing and timing of production runs, materials management, target inventory levels for raw materials, WIP and finished goods, inventory turns, plant service levels/on-time delivery, S&OP Process and act as liaison between the manufacturing plant and the customer facing side of the business (Customer Service, Sales, etc.).

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

Executive Support and Management

  • Oversees production work orders including creation, timing and sequence while increasing production and optimizing inventory levels.

  • Performs MRP runs to generate materials requirements and anticipate production needs in order to satisfy all sales orders and achieve on-time delivery based on agreed upon lead times.

  • Responsibilities to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Work with production departments and engineering to identify ad eliminate constraints/bottle necks and balance production processes throughout the operation to minimize inventory levels while achieving inventory turn goals and on-time delivery.

  • Act as a liaison between the manufacturing plant and the customer service and sales functions to provide effective communication and fulfillment of customer needs.

  • Develops, documents, and implements inventory control processes and procedures.

  • Manage KPI’s dashboard and work with all plant departments to monitor all key indicators and provide frequent updates to upper management.

  • Leads along with director of operations and operation managers, the process for balancing plant capacity with market demand while creating inventory buffers where needed,

  • Leads along with director of operations the S&OP process to integrate all key functional areas on the process to assess and adjust; inventory levels, manufacturing capacity, service levels, on-time delivery, ensuring financial and sales goals are all aligned to the company’s annual operating plan and ensuring proper speed to market.

  • Writes and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Planning and Inventory Control group.

  • Leads and/or participates with count teams in monthly inventory counts and reconciliation as required.

  • Other duties may be assigned.


May be required to travel as needed, up to an estimated 10%.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate solid experience with all facets of the MRP/ERP materials planning system

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem resolution, judgment. Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

  • Needs to be a self-starter, highly organized and detail-oriented with strong commitment to accuracy

  • Works with integrity and ethically.

  • Strong analytical skills, combined with practical business acumen

  • Strong in building relationships across various functional teams

  • Ability to work independently, typically initiating own tasks with input/guidance from manager

  • Supports and maintains good manufacturing/packaging practices

  • Sound knowledge of forecasting and inventory planning and management

  • Ability to lead and persuade, decisive

  • Responsible and reliable with exceptional follow through.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, sometimes stressful environment

  • Working knowledge of inventory controls

  • Advanced PC skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint required

Work Environment:

  • Normal manufacturing and office environment with some exposure to dust, heat and cold

  • Regularly lift up to 15 pounds; occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Prolonged sitting and/or standing.

  • Occasional walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and reaching.


  • Minimum of 8 years of planning experience required.

  • ERP experience required


  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or manufacturing Engineering, supply chain or other related field

  • APICS affiliation and/or certification preferred or equivalent experience.
