Motion Recruitment Partners Junior or Mid Level Programmer Analyst / Java / SQL in Phoenix, Arizona

Contract | $35-50/hr | Phoenix,AZ

Our client - a major financial services company is looking to expand one of their product development teams with a junior or mid-level programmer analyst. This team is responsible for enhancing the customer onboarding process through a decisions sciences framework to automate risk analysis. If selected, you will be supporting this team through data acquisition and taking total ownership over several features of the application to ensure business-level requirements can be implemented into the technical requirements and ultimately the code base. From a coding perspective, you would be responsible for basic Java programming to enhance and modify REST APIs and transform the data for storage in SQL. This team has gained a lot of notoriety internally for the value they have delivered over the last few years so this role comes with a lot of mobility. Also this is an opportunity for a less seasoned developer to leverage this position toward an heavier engineering function, a junior product owner with some development chops to get their foot in the door on a development-focused position, or a SQL developer looking to get more exposure to Java. Eventually there will an expectation of part-time onsite, so candidates currently in the Phoenix valley or willing to relocate before the end of year are highly preferred.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years in a software development team in any of the capacities listed below:

  • Java Programmer / Analyst

  • QA engineer (with basic Java and SQL skills)

  • Software implementations / integrations engineer

  • SQL, ETL, or data developer (with basic Java / JSON skills)

  • Junior Product Owner / Manager with developer training and/or experience in basic Java and SQL

  • Business analyst for software development with training and/or experience in basic Java and SQL

  • Development / Business Analyst abilities / experience

  • SQL (any flavor)

  • Basic understanding of how data is transformed and stored in relational databases

  • Queries

  • Basic stored procedures

  • Understanding of REST APIs on a foundational level and JSON

  • Communication abilities and interpersonal skills

  • Learning agility - self motivated to understand the business and figure things out

  • Highly organized

    Desired Skills & Experience

  • Agile development

  • Test case development

  • Knowledge of technologies and trends in big data and data science

  • Experience in consumer credit, and big bonus for business knowledge of credit risk and fraud

  • Competitive Pay: Up to $50/hour and conversion up to $80,000, DOE
