Ameresco Engineering Assistant in Phoenix, Arizona

Ameresco is looking for a part-time Engineering Assistant (Intern) to gain hands-on experience by supporting the technical project development team for renewable energy projects with a primary focus on solar photovoltaics. They will support commercial distributed generation solar projects as a focus, with an ability for occasional cross training exposure to battery energy storage systems and energy efficiency technologies. This position is located in Phoenix, AZ.


Assisting with a large variety of assignments including software analysis tools, optimization, AutoCAD preliminary site plan creation, site feasibility studies, energy modeling, utility rate analysis, utility interconnection and rebate processing, project scheduling, team process improvements, project budgeting, project close-out and project technical support for construction;

Provide quantitative and technical information for Renewable Energy, projects including primarily solar photovoltaics;

Gain exposure to both office and limited field visits by working with renewable Project Development Engineers, Pre-Construction Managers, Project Managers, and Development Managers;

Exposure to the energy industry private sector by playing an instrumental role in the technical/engineering project development process;

Exposure to both engineering and construction and learn how a project is conceptualized and consequently made a reality.



Actively enrolled in a college degree program (junior level or higher) focusing on electrical, mechanical, engineering, or industrial power, energy services, and renewable technology. Specific interest in energy technologies and the environment is a plus.


Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

MS Office proficiency with advanced PVSyst, AutoCAD, Excel, and Word experience preferred.

Excellent verbal, written, computer, and presentation communication and organizational skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables within fast paced, team project-oriented work environment.

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
