This position is responsible for managing, implementing and executing on key projects and reporting requirements. This position requires a unique skill set that includes engaging with cross-functional leaders on complex projects, collaborating with various teams within Optum, understanding workflow, and creating a collaborative environment to work effectively throughout the organization to ensure alignment of strategy and approach.

This position is accountable for supervising the project plan and operational collaboration during implementation of new processes. Coordinates with operational workstreams, training teams, business owners, and other stakeholders to ensure all goals and objectives are met. Transitions tasks and processes to operational teams upon completion of implementation. Collects, analyzes, and reports relevant data to clinical staff, providers, senior leadership and other associates.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides Project Management expertise in project planning, execution, and monitoring. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of assigned projects and maintains a project management framework that enables a project core team to successfully execute projects. Maintains and analyzes project schedules and prepares regular status reports for management and key stakeholders. Tracks project risks, opportunities and issues in order to develop resolutions to meet quality and timeline goals and objectives

  • Manage full project life cycle including creation, design, specification, development, implementation, and overall change management

  • Lead the development of program or project scope statements, in consultation with applicable stakeholders (e.g. program/project charter, Statement of Work, Business Vision Document)

  • Drive/participate in the capital request process, as appropriate (e.g. presentations, cost-benefit analysis, business case)

  • Will lead functional or segment teams or projects and serve as a leader/mentor by reviewing work performed by others and provide recommendation for improvement

  • Identify and analyze trends, strategies and tactics to increase the productivity of the medical management teams to drive positive performance on organizational key performance metrics and improve the customer experience

  • Identify opportunities for improved scalability of the organization, including opportunities for increased productivity and reduced costs (e.g. streamlined processes, new roles, workload shift)

  • Communicates and provides reports to key stakeholders to ensure projects are aligned with the goals and objectives of the business

  • Identify, develop, and present recommendations; implement approved solutions

  • Manages SharePoint sites created to support key initiatives as well as audit, compile, and analyze data to create reports

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or a related field (4+ additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)

  • 5+ years of experience in full life cycle project management experience including project ROI assessment, project team management and change control management, or healthcare implementation experience

  • 3+ years of prior leadership and management

  • 2+ years of Healthcare or medical management

  • Experience with process mapping methodology and creating process maps

  • Possession of strong analytical/statistical skills used in evaluating and analyzing data

  • Advanced PC skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Outlook, Share Point)

  • Ability to interact one-on-one and consult with and present to all levels of leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Health Administration, Finance, Public Health, Business Administration or related

  • PMP or CAPM certification

  • Utilization Management

  • Authorization experience

  • Launching new healthcare programs/initiatives

  • Technical writing

If the hired individual resides in Florida (office based or telecommuting) this position requires the AHCA Level II background check (fingerprinting) by the State of Florida for all clinicians that have direct face to face contact with members OR employees who will have access to confidential patient data and will require renewal every five years.

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
