The Business Systems Analyst position within Financial (Settlement) Operations is responsible for developing technical solutions on our T-RECS (Transactions Reconciliation) platform, in order to satisfy the business needs of the Financial Operations and Accounting departments, in addition to other departments within Blackhawk needing reconciliation. The ideal candidate will have a service / support and business systems background and retail/payment industry experience is a plus. This position will provide technical assistance through the development of reconciliations and reports, assistance and testing with software upgrades, configurations and customizations, and will also provide business support to end users to ensure their reconciliation needs are met with the development of an automated process. This may include but is not limited to gathering business, functional and system requirements, developing and testing reconciliations and reports in a non-development environment, engaging end users and respective managers for user acceptance testing (UAT) and providing ongoing maintenance and support for existing reconciliations, in order to meet team and management recon operationalization objectives. The ideal candidate can apply best-practice XML programming techniques to configure robust and scalable reconciliations utilizing the T-RECS platform, while making informed recommendations to business users.

This position will be required to participate in meetings with respective business teams, and will be expected to document and develop recommendations, reconciliations and reports to assist in the automation of current manual processes, in addition to the following duties:

  • Completing data imports, analysis and integration, standard and custom reconciliation and report development, screen (user interface) tailoring, workflow administration that includes assistance with reconciliation analysis and exception management requiring user actions and management approvals, QA and Pre-Production development, testing and signoff, custom scripting and third party software integrations, UAT completion and Post-Production validations.

  • Building more complex reconciliations and reports, spanning over multiple platforms and user groups.

  • Primary contact for answering “how to” technical and application configuration questions.

  • Working with vendor support teams to resolve non production and production issues within agreed upon service level agreements.

  • Assisting in the development, testing and rollout of new software application releases and modules.

  • Translating business requirements into technical requirements.

  • Implementing new functionality, including configuration and testing.

  • Writing custom reports and maintaining reconciliation dashboards.

  • Developing test cases for new and existing reconciliations.

  • Consulting with end users and customer groups, in order to gather, analyze and document inputs on requirements, issues and existing and desired functionality, as a means to develop feature definition and/or business process changes.

  • Planning and preparing QA and Pre-Production Signoff documentation for Blackhawk Platform Releases.

  • Serving as a key representative in planning, requirements documentation and execution of reconciliation requirements.

  • Working with management and core user groups to develop and implement process improvements and/or technology solutions which create value and drive benefit for business stakeholders.

  • Partnering with other functional and technical teams that rely on and leverage platforms and ensure that cross functional requirements are being met.

  • Working with management to perform data, technical and business analysis needed for building reconciliations and making decisions.

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support an organization's application systems.

  • Consulting with end users to and management to optimize and improve current operating, recon and business processes.

  • Providing assistance and training to fellow business system analysts with building and troubleshooting recon and report developments.

  • Overseeing the training of new T-RECS users, developing and updating content for training sessions and creating on-boarding presentation decks for recon analysts and manager roles.

  • Writing training and user guide documentation for new and existing reconciliations.

  • Reviewing signoff documentation with new analysts, prior to submitting to management for final approval.

  • Collaborating and communicating with management to provide status updates related to training, recon and release development and/or assigned tasks or projects.

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Management or related discipline or equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area and XML programming.

  • Strong background and knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within reconciliation and Blackhawk as a whole.

  • Experience in aspects of System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from requirements, design, transition, operations and improvement is recommended.

  • Knowledge of software workflow and project management tools such as Service-Now and Agile Planning and reconciliation tools is a plus.

  • Excellent strengths in time management and organization skills, in addition to having great analytical and creative problem solving skills.

  • Self-starter with a track record of managing multiple complex tasks with the ability to meet timelines, in accordance to technology releases.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills – able to present information, status, and issues in a clear and concise manner with the goal of driving to a decision.

  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with team members, managers, vendors and all levels of cross-functional teams and management in a highly dynamic and demanding work environment.

  • Must be able to work effectively under pressure, and make sound recommendations to management and user groups.

  • Flexible, willingness to take initiative and create approaches to solve problems.

  • Good understanding of application architecture and technology infrastructure is preferred.
