Audit Specialist - Field Operations

Ensures the integrity of client and employee data as outlined in Paychex Internal Audit Procedures. Responsible for reconciliation and accuracy of both new and existing client accounts. Records any audit discrepancies and notifies appropriate levels of management.

  • Performs various daily, weekly, and monthly audits to reconcile high risk and high impact data in compliance with audit policies, procedures, and deadlines. Reconciles documentation against data in Paychex system. Verifies documentation of audit items is compliant with Paychex audit policies.

  • Verifies any post audit documentation or system information changes have been updated appropriately and in compliance with audit policies.

  • Maintains accurate records of audit activities and keeps accurate notes detailing audit findings, progress and status.

  • Acts as a resource for field operations audit questions.

  • Identifies patterns of behavior, uses reporting to identify specific opportunities, educates the business unit on tools, reporting, and best practices, to avoid discrepancies and audit failures.

  • Communicates discrepancies to appropriate operations personnel for the purpose of audit resolution. Follows up with Management on all audit failures or issues to ensure timely resolution as appropriate.

  • Compiles data for each individual they inspect and reports information back to the supervisor or manager of the department. Partners with leaders using influence to resolve and proactively prevent audit failures.

  • Keeps up to date with changes to audit policies and procedures.

  • Performs and assist with other duties as assigned to support the overall administrative function of the operations service team.


  • H.S. Diploma - Required

  • 2 years of experience in administration, auditing or customer service.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.

  • hourly rate: $15/hr
