UCP OF SOUTHERN ARIZONA-"Life without limits for people with disabilities"
UCP of Southern Arizona is a nonprofit organization that provides in-home services to the elderly and individuals with developmental disabilities. We serve a diverse population of all age groups and various diagnoses. We are hiring Direct Care Workers (DCW.) DCW's may provide the following services:
Attendant Care -- Involves providing individuals with hands-on assistance with activities of daily living such bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and mobility.
Respite Care -- A service designed to provide the primary caregivers (usually family members) of our consumers with an opportunity to take a break from regular caregiving. The service can be performed in the home allowing the family member(s) time outside the house or in the community for recreational activities. DCW's may perform some of the same duties as on an Attendant Care shift, but most Respite shifts are focused on recreation.
Habilitation -- Involves teaching consumers daily living, self-help, and safety skills so that they may lead more independent, self-directed lives (Please note that duties may involve providing personal care.) For instance, the DCW may work on teaching his/her consumer how to brush teeth, shower, clean his/her room, cook, manage money, or use public transportation.
Depending on one's experience, a DCW may be able to work one or more of the services described. The vast majority of our DCW's are part-time employees. M-F shifts tend to be between 2-4 hours in length and before 8a and after 2p, though we do have some daytime shifts available. Weekend shifts vary greatly in length and time frame.
