About the Role
The A/R Cash Receipts Specialist is responsible for all phases of cash receipts posting, balancing, and reporting. This position retrieves daily cash batches electronically, posts accurately to A/R billing system, maintains daily and monthly balancing reports, and routes incorrect payer payments to the appropriate A/R team for resolution.
Downloads deposit information and remittance detail daily from bank website, accurately posts credits to the A/R billing systems
Maintains balanced daily totals by facility on Excel spreadsheet
Organizes hard copy batches from the bank for storage
Posts denials to patient accounts from batches and correspondence
Identifies over and underpaid claims and routes copies of EOBs to appropriate A/R specialist for follow up
Identifies trends of incorrect payer reimbursement and communicates to A/R Manager
Maintains HIPAA compliance as it pertains to patient records and confidentiality
Balances month-end A/R totals with monthly spreadsheet and bank statement; reconciles any discrepancies by 3 rd business day of the month; prepares EOM reports
Balance Transfer to and Transfer From adjustments
Create monthly unallocated reports and distributes to A/R Managers
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or GED certificate
Some college preferred
2 years of business experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Previous cash posting or related A/R experience
Basic understanding of A/R debit and credit principles
Excel skills and 10-key proficiency
Ability to prioritize and organize work and communicate with other teams
Able to contribute to a harmonious and constructive working relationships with all staff members to promote a positive and productive atmosphere
Willingly performs other tasks when assigned for a smooth operation of the department
