Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation. This is a flexible position with no guarantee of hours. Schedule varies day, night and weekend shifts. Have driver's license with satisfactory driving record, possess or able to obtain an approved First Aid and CPR certification within first 30 days of employment Responsibilities The purpose of this position is to assist and lead outings for the Outdoor Adventure Program. Within established policies and procedures, and under direction of the supervisor, assists with the implementation of an outdoor adventure program. Leads activities to include, but are not limited to, the following: horseback rides, camping trips, fishing trips, hiking, skiing, bike activities, backpacking activities, shopping outings, sightseeing tours, casino or gaming trips, or other special events. Maintains equipment, and performs scheduled basic preventative maintenance of equipment. As the trip leader, is responsible for assisting in the planning and preparation of meals while in the back country setting. During extended activities and in preparing meals, may be required to perform simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing. During program activities or events, maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of assigned patrons. At times, will operate a 13 - 15 passenger van with trailer, to transport patrons on outings and activities. May provide available information and assists patrons in selecting and furthering their interest in the respective areas. Skilled in dealing with public And able to work indoors and outdoors, exposed to a variety of cold or hot weather. Possess and maintain a valid drivers' license and satisfactory driving record with no major violations due to own negligence. Possess the ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Availability to work uncommon work schedule which includes weekends and holidays. Position is a position of trust and is subject to satisfactory completion of an installation, State Criminal and National Agency Records Checks. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
