Truck Service General Manager

We are now looking for an experienced Truck Service Manager to join our team! Our Truck Service team is comprised of nearly 3,000 highly skilled technicians and spans coast to coast. With over 225 locations across the country, TA has a solid foundation and a forward thinking vision. The Truck Service General Manager (GM) provides the leadership for the marketing and operations functions of the Truck Service Profit Center.

Be the leader and inspire your team to meet and exceed company performance standards and maximize the potential of the Truck Service department (i.e. fast and friendly customer service, good product knowledge, up-beat atmosphere, professional language, etc.)
Embody a professional demeanor with a high level of character, honesty and integrity in conducting the business affairs. Inspire all team members to do the same
Develop a trusting atmosphere that is conducive to receiving feedback from team members and guests; coach, discipline, and/or terminate the staff according to company policy
Recruit, hire, train and retain highly motivated employees according to company guidelines and create a culture where employees feel respected and recognized for their achievements
Creatively solve problems and develop robust solutions
Conduct visual inspections to ensure that all products and services are available
Maintain a welcoming and clean appearance to our customers. (i.e. restrooms, showers, signage, lighting, parking lot condition, air conditioning, heating, snow removal…etc.)
Be responsible for achieving financial objectives of the business through effective management of people, product, service and facility processes, including a focus on the revenue and profit components
Oversee payroll, accounting, inventory and personnel documentation procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness in reporting and compliance with state and federal laws.
Adhere to safety standard, comply with standards of operation and follow company guidelines on vendor relationships
Stay alert to competitive practices that could have an impact on business; Offer recommendations when appropriate
What we’d like to see:
A leader who sets the example when working alongside team members
High School Diploma (or GED), Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred
Five years supervisory experience in the following areas: convenience store, truck service, travel center, major retailer, or other related business activity
Proficient planning and analytical skills (i.e. understanding the calculations on the P&L, coverage ratio, budget & expense report, etc.) – able to achieve positive financial results
Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate with other profit center general managers and field managers
Ability to effectively present business actions plans and operational reports to management
Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and some holidays in interior and exterior conditions
Excited to work an energetic 50 hour work week

Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of a Associate Degree (Bachelor Degree preferred) Retail Management, Business
Administration, Accounting or other related major or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five years supervisory experience in the following areas: convenience Truck Service,
travel center, major retailer, or other related business activity.
The ability to lead, motivate, train and develop people to unleash the talent within each employee.
Proficient in planning and analytical skills (i.e. understanding the calculations on the P &L, coverage
ratio, budget & expense reports… etc.) to create positive financial results at all times.
Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with other profit center general managers and field managers.
Ability to effectively present business actions plans and operational reports to management.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists.

Lift and carry merchandise items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
Climb a ladder to reach supplies stored in overhead areas as well as to inspect for cleanliness.

Operate computer efficiently. Requires good vision, hand coordination, fine motor skills and manual
