Apply mechanical skills to perform assembly and disassembly of advanced mining and construction equipment. Modify existing models with product improvements and technological enhancements
Work with other mechanics, engineers, technologists, instrumentation technicians, operators, and logisticians in a collaborative team environment to complete complex mechanical tasks safely, with the highest quality, while meeting project schedules
Follow written work instructions, repair manuals, engineering drawings, engineering specifications, and solid models for assembly and disassembly of complex machine assemblies.
Apply knowledge of machines and machine systems to perform troubleshooting of malfunctioning components, systems, and machines
Use work management systems, engineering databases, and maintenance documents to performance work. Use basic spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and email software to aid in work tasks
Write and provide input to health and safety documents such as safe job procedures and preliminary hazard assessments. Assist supervisor to investigate safety incidences. Participate in safety projects
While working on new products, identify potential issues, potential system and component problems, potential maintainability problems, and potential failure modes. Communicate observations and findings to engineers and (diplomatically) make suggestions for improvement
Provide input to supervisor and team for continuous improvement (CI) and capital projects to improve safety, quality, velocity, and cost. Aid supervisor in the implementation of other employee’s CI ideas
Minimum of5yearsof experienceas amechanicin maintenance,and repairof Caterpillar mining and/or construction equipment. Familiarity with multiple machine systems such as structures, engine, powertrain, hydraulics,pneumatics,electrical and electronics, and undercarriage
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot malfunctions, performance issues, and assembly issues in the assembly, repair, and maintenance of large industrial equipment
Able to use a personal computer to access work management systems and documentsand basic proficiency with MSOffice (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Mechanics at TPG use their own tools to perform assembly and repair work. Candidate must be able to providea professionaltoolbox and set of toolstocompletedaily assignments
Must be able to work continuously on one’s feet for 8 to 10 hours per day in a variety of environmental conditions (i.e. inside/outside, hot/cold/inclement weather, dusty environment)
Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with coworkers and customers
