Make safety and health a priority during all work (and home) activities. Engage in Caterpillar's culture of safety, lead efforts and activities to continuously improve the safety of facilities operations. Monitor and improve safety, eliminating any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean environment.
Lead daily shift startup meeting and monitor progress to the schedule throughout the day. Intervene when necessary to keep projects on track.
Ensure facility wide utilities are supported including monitoring, operating, controlling and repairing heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for office and shop areas. Also involves the efficient operation of the supply and distribution system for water, power, compressed air, etc.
Provide maintenance services based on preventative maintenance programs and emergency repairing for equipment, tools and/ or systems in the shop area to support timely operations activities.
Manage contract services for housekeeping, landscaping, waste removal and other services at the facility.
Manage and oversee the light vehicle fleet, ensuring fleet is kept in safe working condition. Provide maintenance services based on preventative maintenance programs.
Responsibility for expense budgets and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of team.
Responsible for training and development of staff, time keeping, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, budgeting and ensuring consistent application of organizational needs.
Supervise weekend work when scheduled to meet customer timelines.
Work closely with the rest of the operations organization to understand their needs from the facility to meet day-to-day requirements.
- College degree in an engineering discipline or 5+ years of experience in any of the following areas; mining, construction, test/validation, heavy equipment dealers, or a factory environment.
TOP CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE:
Facilities, factory/ shop operations, equipment and process experience with a general understanding of fabrications, machining and maintenance functions.
Prior supervisory experience.
Knowledge of Caterpillar Production System processes and tool. Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
Proficient with all Microsoft office products.
Strong communication and public speaking skills. You will be required to give daily shift start meetings, train others, interact with customers and lead tour groups.
Must be able to work continuously on one’s feet for 8 to 10 hours per day in a variety of harsh environmental conditions (i.e. inside/outside, hot/cold/inclement weather, dusty environment)
Must be willing to work outside of normal work hours including overtime and alternate shifts.
The employee may be required to move items weighing up to 35 pounds.
Zero injury and stop-to-fix mindset.
Project planning and management experience.
Good interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills.
