Xanterra Travel Collection Human Resources Generalist- The Grand Hotel Tusayan AZ in Grand Canyon, Arizona

Overview

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, enforcing company policies and practices and performing various Human Resources duties as assigned, and providing administrative support for HR management team.

Responsibilities

  • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Updates posts and sends out weekly job posting.

  • Administers pre-employment testing and adverse action as necessary.

  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.

  • Actively participates in job fairs and hiring events.

  • Fact checks employee reviews and written action notices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Knowledge and experience with general Human Resources office procedures and best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times, in all situations.

  • Possess good interpersonal skills to ensure intelligent and professional communications with employees.

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks/projects within an established and scheduled time frame.

  • Possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver’s License

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required or at least one year of human resource management experience preferred.

  • SHRM-CP a plus.

  • Knowledge and experience with Cloudesuite (Company’s HRIS, iCIMS).

  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) language skills a plus.

    Basic Competencies:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Possess good organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times, in all situations.

  • Possess good interpersonal skills to ensure intelligent and professional communications with all employees, vendors and guests.

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks/projects within an established and scheduled time frame.

    Employment Conditions:

  • Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries.

  • Work safely to ensure company equipment is secure.

  • Wear protective equipment as required by the job duties.

  • Completes all required training programs.

  • Work hours include working a standard workweek (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a one hour lunch unpaid lunch period) infrequent overtime as needed with an occasional support of company functions on a weekend day as needed.

    Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

  • Constantly sitting, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling and wrist motion. Occasional standing, walking, balancing, bending/stooping and climbing.

  • Trunk Strength - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving our or fatiguing.

  • Static Strength-The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.

  • Occasionally carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50lbs.

  • Occasionally lift and carry sacks/boxes of files weighing up to 75 lbs.

  • Constantly listening, hearing, and seeing.

  • Will be required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally walk, climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces.
