HRPivot Transportation Manager in Gilbert, Arizona

Job Summary:

The Transportation Manager leads all aspects of the company’s freight operations as required to support the logistics system and service our customers. This includes direct customer delivery programs, freight to and from distribution centers, freight to and from contract factories, port drayage and serving as interface with customer transportation teams. This also includes direct management of a new delivery service to select Lowe’s locations and dealers, managing the delivery team and vehicles, negotiating freight contracts, and coordinating with manufacturing and warehouse supervisors to facilitate the efficient and timely movement of products.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Interface with customer transportation teams to optimize freight systems.

  • Manages the day-to-day special order delivery network

  • Supervising the drivers/vehicles to ensure that both are operating consistent with company standards

  • Scheduling appointments

  • Dispatching, routing, and tracking

  • Processing BOL paperwork

  • Negotiate outbound freight rates for products flowing to the distribution centers and any other outbound samples for the sales team.

  • Negotiate TL and LTL rates for occasional transfers between warehouses

  • Assisting the import/warehouse management team with drayage issues

  • Accountability for vehicle maintenance, operating expense control

  • Collaborates with purchasing, distribution, inventory control for the cost effective and timely movement of product

  • Collaborates with finance team on effective expense control

  • Develop recommendations for process improvements

  • Keeps abreast of market trends and competitive trucking opportunities

  • Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledge of LTL and TL carriers.

  • Self-starter with strong project management skills and detail orientation in order to drive program success across functions, ability to take complete ownership of tasks.

  • Ability to evaluate existing transportation operations to then develop and implement necessary improvements.

  • Critical thinking skills and knowledge of analytics

  • Good conflict resolution skills

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in logistics, business management, or a closely related field preferred

  • Prior experience in a logistics and transportation role

  • Experience with customer service and consumer direct delivery operations

  • Experience working with transport management systems and routing software

  • Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Must have a passion for our business, along with a strong commitment to timely execution of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
