Gila River Health Care Clinical Application Specialist in Gila River Districts, Arizona

As primary subject matter/content expert, provides information systems support of specified departmental software through maintenance of all associated database tables, hardware and any associated peripheral to ensure consistency between and among various integrated systems and compliance with all regulatory and procedural standards

  • Plans, tests and implements software upgrades and enhancements; codes debugs and documents programs to ensure productions systems continue to meet user needs

  • Identifies and resolves application and system problems to provide for continuous clinical informational operations

  • Provides system debugging and trouble-shooting in support of kernal; runs and interprets error reports; initiates corrective action as appropriate

  • Provides technical support and assistance to a variety of users; sets up devices and printers; trouble-shoots malfunctions

  • Creates and maintains all application menus, develops shortcuts as needed to assist navigate between application areas

  • Acts as project lead for conversion projects; identifies milestones, meets with stakeholders to determine project objectives, deliverables, outcomes and timeframe

  • Provides end-user training on applications to ensure understanding of functionality

  • Works closely and in conjunctions with other clinical and non-clinical application specialists to coordinate testing of application enhancements, interfaces and patches to ensure results achieve desired outcomes

  • Provides consultative suggestions and recommendations to department users for continued enhancements to intra/internet informational areas

  • Develops customized and ad hoc end user reports as requested

  • Maintains application security protocols; assigns users and provides application access as appropriate

  • Works closely and cooperatively with application vendor(s) for scheduling and monitoring results of software patches, downtime, recovery plans and upgrade loads to both test and live environments to ensure minimal interruption to operations

  • Maintains current knowledge of health and business information software and hardware advancements to provide current consultative information to management and users

  • Prepares and presents reports and analyses of operational results

  • Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives

  • Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration or closely related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute

  • Must have at least 3 years previous experience in a hospital or health care setting; with strong working knowledge of NextGen EHR and template development strongly preferred.
