Nurse Resident – An employee who is new to nursing practice, newly licensed, has just exited nursing school.
We seek engaged learners adhering to the following program expectations:
A strong desire to learn
Participation in all learning environments – clinical, online & classroom
Ability to complete module assignments on time as assigned by the residency coordinator
Professional expectations such as – punctuality, avoidance of unexcused absences, respectful behavior, appropriate classroom etiquette, completion of components of residency
Highlights of NAH Nurse Residency
Nurse Residents must be licensed prior to start date. It is strongly recommended that you obtain the soonest possible NCLEX test date in preparation for this program
Nurse Residents will participate in New Colleague & RN Orientation, as well as CERNER Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Training
Additional opportunities for nurse residents include – Basic EKG Interpretation
NAH provides a hybrid & dynamic learning environment including clinical application, asynchronous & synchronous learning environments for the nurse resident, suited to all types of learners, regardless of specialty area -- Medical/Surgical Nursing, Emergency Department, Adult or Pediatric Critical care, BH.
Our residency learning environments consist of:
Clinical shifts with experienced preceptors
Preceptor verified competencies at the bedside
Multidisciplinary role observations – OT in BH, ECT, Intake team, Discharge planning, Therapy groups. **Clinical orientation timelines are individualized to the learner – orientees may exit orientation when ready based on competencies, completion of learning, & safety in the clinical environment is verified. Exit readiness will be assessed by preceptors, clinical managers & orientees. However, overall average timelines are considered based on specialty area. BH average 8-12 weeks
Hands-on instruction & return demonstration of skills
Online Learning in LMS including Emotional Intelligence training, personality disorders, and DBT.
Mental health first aid course
CEU specific to BH
Arizona RN license required by date of hire
Signed 24 month contract for the assigned unit on date of hire
