NAU Facility Services is conducting a Job Fair for Custodian positions. Interviews will be conducted on-site at the job fair. You can apply online or in-person, but must be present at the fair for interviews.
Location: Northern Arizona University - Facility Services Bldg. 77, 501 E Pine Knoll Dr. Flagstaff, AZ 86011
Time: Thursday July 29 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday July 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

There are multiple positions available. Custodians needed for the following shifts:
Academic shift: Monday - Friday, 4 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Housing shift: Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Weekend shift: Thursday - Monday, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Night shift: Monday - Friday, 3 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Performs custodial maintenance duties including dusting, mopping, finishing, and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms to maintain a clean environment within the University.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Performs regular, repetitive cleaning functions, as well as project cleaning as assigned.
Sweeps, mops, polishes and strips floors in rooms and halls; dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds, and equipment; cleans restrooms and fills dispensers; moves furniture, equipment or fixtures as required; stocks area with appropriate supplies.
Vacuums, spot cleans and/or shampoos rugs, carpets, and furniture using commercial vacuum cleaners and shampooing equipment.
Reports malfunctions of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures and/or damages to room and hall furnishings to supervisor.
Initiates work orders for repair/maintenance, reports damages and malfunctions of fixtures and equipment.
Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal; may change light bulbs as directed; ensures doors are locked after cleaning areas.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways and roofs as required.
Complies with all job-specific safety requirements and procedures identified in job-specific hazard assessments (required training, PPE use, standard operating procedures, etc.).
Proactively participates in accident prevention efforts and responds to injuries and accidents promptly to modify activities and prevent further accidents.
Accounts for time and attendance electronically in both TMA and Peoplesoft.

Essential Physical Requirements
Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
Work in an environment having some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report (https://in.nau.edu/police-department/annual-security-and-fire-safety-reports/.) is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

The budgeted salary for this position is $31,320.
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
