Contracts Analyst, Senior

Negotiates, prepares and interprets contracts; assists in compiling and preparing contract bid documents; establishes and maintains contract records and ensures compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Negotiates a wide variety of contracts to include, but not limited to, affiliation/internship/externship agreements, real estate purchases, easements, leases, facility use agreements, memoranda of understanding, hotel contracts, software contracts, intergovernmental agreements, international academic agreements, consulting and service agreements.
Interprets contract provisions to help resolve claims and questions submitted by contractor.
Assists in the evaluation of risk inherent in the contract and recommends appropriate insurance requirements.
Corresponds with contractors and departmental representatives regarding contract issues, status or negotiation.
Receives requests, updates records, initiates paperwork, prepares addenda, provides follow up and obtains approval for contract changes.
Prepares and edits contracts for signature by an authorized university representative using word processing or adobe software or typewriter.
Maintains records of correspondence related to contract activity.
Assists in compiling and preparing bid documents and bidders list, including requests for bids and proposals, vendor correspondence and processing paperwork for award.
Monitors contract file and prepares documents for contract renewal or cancellation.
Serves as liaison between assigned area and faculty, staff, administrators, and contractors regarding contracts.
Prepares complex reports as required for audit and administrative purposes.
Researches and evaluates new or changed laws.
Participates in meetings and conferences pertinent to area of responsibility.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field AND
Five years of contract administration experience; OR
Nine years of progressively responsible contract adminitration experience, OR
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of contract requirements in accordance with current Arizona Revised Statutes and Arizona Board of Regents Policies.
Skill in negotiating, writing and interpreting contractual agreements.
Ability to effectively communicate.
Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of word processing software, typewriter operation.
Ability to interpret contract language.
This position requires the flexibility to work extended and non-standard work hours as needed to accomplish objectives.
This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting.

The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report (https://in.nau.edu/police-department/annual-security-and-fire-safety-reports/.) is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

The budgeted salary for this position is $54,779.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position.
