Microchip Technology Sr. Engineering Technician in Chandler, Arizona

Support Product/Process Qualifications and ESD Testing.

Perform ESD tool self-tests diagnostics and waveform capturing using an oscilloscope on various tools, verify that they meet specifications, report any abnormalities and failures.

ESD and LU board maintenance and inventory control, this will include ordering new boards, procuring sockets through our vendors, ensuring all boards are labeled and inventoried. Board repair and socket replacement as needed and anticipating future board needs and upgrades to add capabilities.

Soldering; this role will require the occasional soldering of passive components to a socket for Latch Up testing and some board repair.

Shipping and receiving of products that may originate from various Microchip sites, this will include generating a shipping list to be used to ship products for domestic and generating commercial shipping invoices to ship overseas that need to be approved and certified with our US import and compliance officer, ensure packaging is adequate for shipping when dropping off at our shipping department.

Generate reports that include summary results of ESD, LU, CDM, and ESD Induced LU results.

Ensuring all tools within the lab are calibrated, work with our vendors to schedule calibration as needed.

Operating lab tools to ensure products are tested in a timely manner.

Support lab related purchases.

PCB layout and coding experience is highly desirable.

AAS Degree in a technical field with industry experience or bachelor’s in engineering with limited experience or returning engineer.

Experience with lab equipment such as power supply, digital multi-meter, and the oscilloscope is required.

Experience with basic components such as diodes, capacitors and resistors.

Proper ESD handling is a requirement as this is an ESD lab where components are tested for ESD robustness.

Basic soldering; the ability to solder surface mounts and through hole components as well as the ability to desolder those components too.

Communication with product engineers is important this helps to ensure proper testing is done and is done per specifications.

Strong lab skills with assorted test/measurement equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, power supply, source meter, function generator, network analyzer, etc.)

Ability to optimize processes to increase throughput, without sacrificing quality.

Proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Must be self-motivated, team player and adhere to Microchips company values.

Ability to work off-shift to accommodate business and global needs
